This Privacy Policy describes how Binge Me (“Binge Me,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses, and handles information when you use our website at bingeme.inand our mobile applications for iOS and Android (together, the “Service”).

Information We Collect

The free version of Binge Me (website and free mobile apps) does not require account creation, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information, unless you voluntarily send it to us (for example, by emailing our support address).

The Pro version of our mobile apps offers an optional cloud sync feature. To use this feature, you create an account by providing your email address. The email is used solely to identify your account so your data can be synced and restored across your devices. See the “Pro Account & Cloud Sync” section below for details.

When you use the Service, certain information is automatically collected by our hosting provider, analytics services, and advertising partners. This may include:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location (country / region level)
  • Device type, operating system, and browser type/version
  • Referring URL and pages visited within the Service
  • Date and time of your visit, and time spent on each page
  • For our mobile apps: device model, OS version, app version, and crash diagnostics

This information is used to operate, secure, and improve the Service. It is typically collected in aggregated or anonymized form.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Binge Me does not set its own cookies. However, the third-party services we integrate with (listed below) may set cookies, web beacons, local storage, or similar technologies on your device to deliver their services.

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device by a website. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect how ads are displayed but will not prevent you from using the Service.

Advertising

The Service may be supported by advertising. We may use Google AdSense and/or other third-party advertising services to serve ads on the Service.

Third-party ad servers or ad networks may also use technologies in the advertisements and links that appear on the Service. These technologies may send their own identifiers and the content you interact with directly to your browser. Binge Me has no access to or control over these technologies used by third-party advertisers.

Analytics

We may use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Service in aggregate. These tools collect information sent by your device or the Service, including the pages you visit, and use it to compile reports about activity on the Service.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with the following third-party services:

  • The Movie Database (TMDB) — provides movie and TV show metadata and images. When images load from TMDB's servers, your IP address is visible to TMDB. Subject to TMDB's privacy policy. Binge Me uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • Google AdSense — serves advertisements. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting & CDN providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, CloudFront) — deliver the Service. Server logs may include IP addresses and request metadata.

Mobile App Permissions

For our mobile applications, the following device permissions may be requested. Granted permissions are used only for the purposes stated below.

  • Internet / Network State: required to fetch movie and TV data from our servers and TMDB.

Pro Account & Cloud Sync

The Pro version of our mobile apps offers an optional cloud sync feature that lets you save and restore your data (such as watchlists, favorites, and preferences) across multiple devices.

  • What we collect: your email address, used to identify your account.
  • What we sync: app data you choose to save, such as watchlists, favorites, ratings, and user preferences. We do not sync information from other apps on your device.
  • Where it is stored: on secure cloud storage used only for the purpose of providing the sync feature.
  • How it is used: solely to provide the cloud sync feature. We do not sell your email, share it with advertisers, or use it for marketing unless you explicitly opt in.
  • Retention: your account and synced data are retained as long as your Pro account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing us (see “Contact Us” below).
  • Security: data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with reputable cloud providers.

Cloud sync is optional. If you do not enable it, no account or email is required, and your data stays on your device.

Your Rights Under GDPR (European Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you certain rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable format.
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Our legal basis for processing the minimal data listed above is our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the Service, and (for advertising) your consent where required by law.

Your Rights Under CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected about you.
  • Request deletion of personal information (subject to legal exceptions).
  • Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

Binge Me does not sell personal information in the traditional sense. However, the use of third-party advertising cookies may be considered “sharing” under the CCPA. To opt out of personalized advertising, use the opt-out links under “Advertising” above, or contact us at contact@bingeme.in.

Data Retention

For free users, we retain almost no personally identifiable data. Server logs and analytics records are retained for a limited period (typically up to 26 months, in line with Google Analytics defaults) and then deleted or anonymized. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry.

For Pro userswho have enabled cloud sync, your email address and synced app data are retained as long as your Pro account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us — see the “Contact Us” section.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — including HTTPS encryption in transit and reputable cloud providers — to protect the limited data we process. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Data Transfers

The Service is operated globally. Information may be processed in, and transferred to, countries other than the one in which you reside, including India and the United States. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in jurisdictions where that higher age applies, such as parts of the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Because we do not hold user accounts, we cannot notify you individually — please review this page periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
